Hi friends! How was your weekend?
I am officially swamped getting the house ready to be packed up, trying to get some blogging work accomplished so that I can take off a few weeks this summer and trying to find a new home (and schools) which is proving to be more difficult than I’d like! Eek! So much to do, so little time.
As I was going through cleaning some of the kitchen drawers and cabinets I came across my muffins tins that triggered this post.
Many kids go through the stage where they want their food to be separate….nothing combined, nothing touching. Muffin tins (regular or mini size) are a great serving tool for this purpose.
I especially like the silicone ones because they’re light and great for kids. Although I don’t have enough to provide one for each child, when my older two are in school this is the perfect thing for my three-year-old to use. I also find that when I offer salad bar items separate they are more likely to combine it themselves versus when I just make the salad .
Here is an example (as well as some additional ideas) of what you could present to your kids- it’s fun, colorful and best of all, easy!
As you can see, you can easily change the options here. Then your kiddo can eat it straight out of the tray like this! Just serve some dressing on the side and you’re good to go.
After I played with a few options for this post, my kids actually made their own salad out from this and gobbled it up.
Here is another example, but as you can imagine, there are tons of possibilities!
Rice crackers
Red Bell Pepper
Almonds
Nitrate-Free Turkey
Mandarin Slices
Romaine
Fun right? Presentation goes a long way for the kiddie meals.
